Coherent engine and Nvidia Linux drivers 358
« on: December 27, 2015, 11:30:22 AM »
Hello,

This short post to report  an issue. (sorry if it is not the correct way of reporting bugs & issues)
I faced an issue with Planatary Annihilation (so coherent engine) and Nvidia Linux drivers 358.
The ui became unresponsive during the game. I found a work around by downgrading the driver version.
You can find further issue details on the PA forum within this post https://forums.uberent.com/threads/coherentui-crash-nvidia-358-16-fedora-23.71057/#post-1121089
.
I wonder if you already faced this issue as well and if you are working on a fix ?

Best regards.

John

Hello Uggla,

I will start investigating your problem. Thank you for notifying us for this problem with the new drivers.

EDIT: I noticed that a moderator could not reproduce it on ArchLinux. Also I saw here   and there that the latest drivers are known to have problems with Steam too.

Regards,
John

Thanks John for pointing those 2 articles.
I used the steam runtime so that looks like more an issue due to interaction of nvidia 358.16 driver and steam runtime.
I'll try to investigate into this direction and report findings.

Hi Uggla,

Thank you for the link. As this is a Third party issue and a fix has been made, we will not investigate it any longer. Please use the previous drivers (which we rarely recommend :D ).

Regards,
John

Thanks John.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that next release will fix all the issues.
